Argentium Sterling and 14K Yellow Gold-Filled Helm Weave Bracelet

134.00

This Argentium Sterling and 14K Yellow Gold-Filled bracelet/anklet is made using the Helm Weave, sometimes called Parallel Weave. This weave is another of the first weaves that I teach to my beginning chainmaille students.

I begin with 16g Argentium Silver and 14K Yellow Gold-Filled Wire which is hand-coiled and then cut into individual Jump-rings. The rings are then woven together to create the pattern you see. It is finished with a hand-made S-Hook style clasp, then tumbled with Stainless Steel Shot to give it it's brilliant shine.

Argentium Sterling is an alloy of silver that replaces some of the copper of traditional Sterling with germanium. This change makes Argentium much more tarnish resistant than traditional Sterling, and also makes it more malleable yet more durable. This makes it a far superior material for many jewelry making applications, especially chainmaille. Argentium does cost a little more than regular sterling but it is such a small extra cost to pay for a much superior product.

Our Gold-Filled Wire has a layer of 14K Gold that has been mechanically bonded with heat and tremendous pressure to a brass core. This 14K Gold-Filled Round Wire is 20% (1/5) 14K Gold by weight. The layer of Gold is hundreds of times thicker than silver plating.  This simultaneously provides a material stronger that solid Gold, while making a more affordable Gold option.

My standard sizes are listed, but custom sizing is also available.  Please contact me directly for details.
